How to transform daytime makeup to evening time

How to transform daytime makeup to evening time

There’s a makeup style to fit every occasion. Whether it’s work, brunch, dinner, or carnival, each occasion requires a different look to fit the bill. But what if you are going straight to dinner from work and don’t have time for a fresh face in between?

Is it possible to transition from your work makeup to dinner makeup without having to totally remove it? Absolutely! But first, let us take a more detailed look at the two kinds of makeup applications, what makes them different, and how to transition from one to the other.

What is the difference between evening and day makeup?

Lighting is a major part of the way we do makeup applications. Your makeup will look different in different types of lighting, which is why stage and TV makeup tends to be a lot heavier than your regular day-to-day. Similarly, the way your makeup looks during the daytime is different than how it will look at night. Hence, you have to make the necessary adjustments for the lighting.

Daytime lighting is much brighter and harsher, so wearing subtle, more neutral colors is a good option. However, at night, the lighting tends to be dimmer, so your makeup can be more saturated.

How should I do my makeup for nighttime?

If you are going from day to nighttime makeup here’s what you need to do.

  1. Touch up your face makeup using powder to remove and absorb any excess oil your skin may have produced throughout the day. You may also apply cream concealer in areas where you need extra coverage or where your makeup may have separated during the day.
  2. Draw attention to the eyes by using techniques that will emphasize them. You could go with a winged eyeliner or a smokey eye if it’s not too complicated or you aren’t in a rush. Or you could even just add a shimmer eyeshadow to your upper lids and end with mascara or false lashes if you’re feeling really fancy.
  3. Pucker up buttercup! Grab a bold color lip liner and lipstick to really take your look up a notch. If you decided to go with a more dramatic eye, you can keep the lips simple. However, if you went with a simple winged liner, a great va-va-voom red lipstick is perfect.
  4. Finally, swipe a shimmery bronzer or highlighter on the high points of your face (cheekbones, bridge of the nose, and cupid’s bow), then set it and forget it with your favorite setting spray.

Ta-da! You’ve just transformed your office makeup into a date night or drinks with friends with minimal effort.
